Mr. Torres has a specific goal to demonstrate the skills and benefits of traditional karate to the American public. His experience includes extensive studies at Isshin Ryu headquarters in Rochester, New York. He received his black beld and teaching certificate from seventh degree black belt Joseph Jennings and tenth degree "world renowned master" Angi Uezu. Mr. Torres founded the Institute in San Clemente in 1983.

Mr. Torres has also been chosen for karate related honors outside of the competitive arena, including involvment in such major motion pictures as "Masters", Hadcase" and "Deadly Addiction" and he has appeared as a gues on television's "Saddleback Lifestyles". He was also chosen Martial Arts Magazine's 1986 Hall of Fame Winner. Mr. Torres has also helped to enhance his students' performance with his involvement in instructional video tapes from Panther Productions, specifically "Mastering the Kamas". It is no surprise then that his students have captured numerous team championships.
